I realized that I needed to get the plans up off the work bench while drawing out the rudder on mdf. There are a lot of things that need to be changed or fixed to make my space comfortable and efficient to work in. I feel that your work space must be comfortable and enjoyable to be in or nothing will get accomplished. So I installed clips that I picked up from the office max this morning. Now the plans are in a clean area and easily readable.

Rudder template 2.5hrs
Drew the rudder dimensions out on a leftover sheet of 3/4" mdf. Used a can of car wax and a roll of tape to get the curves for the gusset plates in the corners.
Plans arrive!
The full set of plans arrive d the other day. Didn't have time to post anything about it. Time for the studying to begin. The more I look at them the more it looks like a big RC plane. Nothing like a "soda pop" while a doing a little reading.

Rib jig 2hrs
Cut the pieces of oak into one inch blocks. Then decided to screw the blocks to the jig, so I pre drilled holes in each of the blocks. I only had a hack saw at the time?, making it a lot more time consuming than it should have been.

Cleaning work area
Started to clean up the work area. Needed to get a space setup to put the rib jig. I made both benches last fall from the standard eaa work bench plans. I purchased a couple pieces of oak to make blocks for the rib jig.

Redrawn rib template 3 hrs
Had to redraw the rib outline. Too many things didn't match up dimension wise. As I have read from other builders, the full size rib template can be skewed. It is the nature of photo copies. I still used the template as a fancy french curve of sorts. Now the spar spacing is correct and square.

More reading
Ordered a full set of plans from Andrew pietenpol. While waiting for those to arrive I borrowed a set of gn1 plans to start getting an idea as to what is going to be involved.
Sport air workshop
I went to oshkosh at the end of January and took the fundamental of aircraft construction workshop. Purchased a bunch of reading material and have been reading the colder months away.
Rib templates 1hr
Received the full size rib template in the mail. Started to transfer everything over to 3/4" mdf and start building a jig.
